The waste fractions from a waste incineration plant consist of fly ash, filter cakes, gypsum and bottom ash containing heavy metals and other pollutants. NOAH has developed a unique treatment method for these waste fractions.
Energy waste
NOAH receives large quantities of sulphuric acid, which together with ash fractions form a plaster. This plaster is used as building material for reconstructing Langøya. This process, where waste is used to neutralise and create an end product, such as construction material, is classed by the authorities in all northern European countries (without Sweden) as a recovery process (R-process).
NOAH’s customers can thereby refer to their waste treatment method as one that has a recovery status.
Ash fractions received from all of northern Europe currently comprise 300 000+ tonnes per year.
