Waste from production

Significant amounts come from industrial cleaning plants for inorganic waste. The waste types can be solid, in dust form and also liquid as long as the TOC, the organic biodegradable portion, does not exceed a hazardous waste value of 1%, and for non-hazardous waste 5%. The companies will often already have deposited this waste at their own depots. As the requirements for the depots, as well as surveillance and follow-up inspections, have become increasingly demanding, many industrial companies choose NOAH as their depot solution. This saves the companies from unnecessary worry and unexpected costs. Using own depots is becoming increasingly unpopular as the requirements become ever more stringent. The financing involved for your own depot has also spurred many companies to opt for different solutions.

NOAH’s receipt and treatment of production waste offers companies major benefits, and provides an innovative and environmental solution for industries. The solution involves NOAH taking over the complete and final responsibility for any waste fractions received. The customer thus avoids any future issues associated with the waste.

The treatment method is adapted to the production waste’s structure and chemistry, so that the waste is converted to a stable form. This occurs in processes where the waste reacts, is neutralised or in any other way immobilised before final stabilisation in the gypsum landfill.

Logistics costs are a significant factor for industrial waste disposal, whether from an internal depot or from ongoing production. That’s why NOAH offers cost-effective transport solutions via sea. The ships are suitable for unstable production waste, so that even masses with a higher liquid content can be transported.

Acids and bases

NOAH receives all types of inorganic acids and bases from the galvano industry, surface treatment and chemical industries. These are waste products that contain salts, heavy metals and other pollutants.

Acids and bases can be received in all concentrations, with the exception of hydrofluoric acids, as the maximum threshold value is 20 %. This waste fraction can be delivered by car or boat. Large quantities can be delivered as bulk. NOAH always adapts to the customer’s needs and wishes for packaging, tonnage, delivery flexibility and logistics.

NOAH receives significant waste quantities from hazardous waste operators, and also directly from large parts of the Norwegian galvano industry. Acids and bases are received from both land-based and offshore oil industries. Degreasing fluids, flushing water and neutral solutions, which often contain salts or other environmentally hazardous substances, are received and processed in line with acids and bases.

Inorganic hazardous waste

Treatment solutions on Langøya are solid and flexible. This enables the reception of a wide range of solid and liquid inorganic hazardous waste. The threshold value for receipt of a TOC, organic degradable, is 1% for hazardous waste and 5% for non-hazardous waste.

Our chemicals and laboratory staff are skilled in choosing treatment solutions, even for the most complex waste fractions such as laboratory chemicals and hazardous waste of an unknown origin and composition.

NOAH has a permit from the Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority for the receipt of radioactive waste under the exemption levels stated in the Radiation Protection Regulations.

The miscellaneous category includes deliveries from collecting apparatus and smaller industrial companies such as:

• Residual fractions from vacuum steaming of liquid waste
• Chalk, cement, road salt, caustic soda
• Metal hydroxide sludge
• Various unsorted goods from faulty production, storage etc.
• Additives that cannot be re-used in production or in any other way used industrially
• Slag and sludge from chemical purification plants
• Active charcoal sewage
• Blown sand, both hazardous and non-hazardous waste

Receipt of the miscellaneous category’s hazardous waste includes fixed and liquid fractions from industry, municipalities, collectors and public institutions.
